Tasha Norris started Rooted because she wanted a salon that was creative but fun, professional but in a relaxed atmosphere, accommodating when possible, fair wages, and customer oriented.

“I knew if we could achieve these things stylists would be proud to work at Rooted and would want to grow with us.

I really miss everyone, the stylists, the customers that became friends. It was a joy.”

Tasha sold Rooted in April of 2018.

Tasha and her family currently reside in Tennessee and enjoy spending time on the lake with their children and grandchildren.

Deena and Darren Denning

In April of 2018, Deena and Darren Denning, with their daughter Danielle, a stylist, purchased Rooted.

Running Rooted Salon became more than just a business for the Dennings; it was a journey filled with cherished connections. They reveled in the daily interactions with staff and clients alike, each person walking through the doors becoming a part of the Rooted family. Their leadership was marked by kindness.

As all chapters do, theirs too approached a close when The Dennings decided it was time to step back from the salon life. Their hearts full of gratitude for the years spent at Rooted, they look back fondly on the relationships forged and the memories made. The Dennings leave behind a legacy of love, community, and genuine connection, principles that will continue to thrive within the walls of Rooted Salon, just as they had always hoped.

In May 2023, the salon was purchased by Amber Pendergrass, who had been a dedicated nail technician for 12 years. Valuing the freedom and flexibility of self-employment, Amber not only thrived in doing nails but also expanded her expertise into educating others, teaching apprenticeships, as well as traveling as a brand educator to classes and trade shows.

In 2022, after a fulfilling career, Amber chose to retire as a nail technician to spend time with her husband and children. She spent an invaluable year nurturing connections and contemplating future aspirations. With a deep-rooted passion for the beauty industry and a desire to remain self-employed, Amber initially planned to build out a new salon. However, when these plans did not materialize, fate stepped in, leading to the discovery of Rooted Salon and a meeting with the Dennings, which felt like a perfect alignment.

Since taking ownership, Amber has embraced her role with enthusiasm, cultivating meaningful relationships with each team member at Rooted. Amber is committed to uplifting the beauty industry and aims to make a significant impact on the culture and community of hairstylists in the Salt Lake Valley. Her leadership is marked by a genuine appreciation for community—both within the team and among the salon's clientele.

Every day at Rooted Salon brings new connections, stories, and opportunities to enrich the community, making it a hub of beauty and camaraderie. Amber looks forward to welcoming each client into the Rooted family, ensuring a memorable and uplifting experience.
